The stock on my krag has been busted and repaired one too many times. The cut outs for the magazine on the right side and the access plate on the left side make for a weak point. Trying to find a new stock has been a chore. Anyways, I figured I'd take a look at one of the many military mauser take off stocks laying in my shop. Looks like there is enough meat that I should have enough wood on the left side to cover the access plate and this thing just might work. Any large gaps can be filled with acroglass and with some modifications I can use the mauser bottom metal. Have any of you professionals ever tried this modification? What do you guys think of this idea?

Well, I guess not all my hair-brained ideas are gems. I got it in there but it's going to take about a quart of filler to make it fit. I can always use that old mauserstock for a tent stake or something

Yeah, I know all about Boyds stocks. I might just end up there. I have several of their stocks on small ring mausers.
