Can someone post the normal weights of a few different Mauser actions? 1. large ring military (e.g 1909 Argentine etc.) 2. small ring standard length (e.g. G33/40) 3. small ring intermediate (e.g. Mexican 1910) 4. commercial Mauser (e.g. F.N. commercial, Zastava etc) Just for good measure what does a standard Win 70 weigh? Weights on any of the above including factory bottom metal, springs, followers etc would be much appreciated. cheers, - stu

I've been slapped in the face for asking that very question

1908 Brazilian DWM weighs 46 ounces. At Brownells, the PAWS Aluminum bottom metal for Mausers weighs 3.5 ounces, as opposed to 8.625 ounces for typical steel bottom metal. It costs $60 and so the weight savings is ~ $12/ ounce. At Brownells has 20 ounce rifle stocks. I have many Walnut stocks sitting around, with an average weight of 40 ounces. The 20 ounce stocks cost $200 and so the weight saving is ~ $10/ounce. My brother, right now, is drilling holes in his bottom metal, because he is too cheap to pay the $60 for PAWS on a ultra light 243 he is building.

I have posted weights of a lot of things over the eyars. Did you search before asking? I think there will be the info there. Here are stripped action (no bolts, bolt stop, anything)weights. This will give you a good feel of what the real differences are in the actions. I don't feel like tracking everything down to get "made up" weights today. I will do it on a day when I feel like it and maybe we can put it in the stickie at the top of the page or something. Will be good reference, as this question comes up a lot on forums and in emails 1909 Argentine 16.0oz 1936 Mexican 14.5oz G33/40 13.4oz pre-64 M70(.264) 19.2oz
