I have a customer's Rem 700 in the shop for a muzzle brake install. The bluing on the barrel is pretty badly worn but it is a stainless barrel. I understand Rem plated the barrels with iron and then blued them. I'm wondering if I can just put the barreled action into my tanks in an attempt to restore most of the bluing. Has anyone here tried that, and if you did what was the result?

Thanks

Test it with some Oxpho Blue-if it takes, there must be iron still left.
