What is preferred Disc or Belt Sander when grinding a recoil pad? Why? Chip Chip Pitcairn

I use a large coarse disc sander to take the pad down to within a couple millimeters of the grind-to line. It cuts straight like a laser beam and does not distort the pad. I then finish on a fine disc sander to produce a smooth finish. There are many choices in tools, but to really get a nice final product it takes many pads and alot of practice and repetition.

Here is a related thread on a different forum that may be helpful. www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthre...1/page/1#Post2215341 "There always seems to be a big market for making the clear, complex."

I use a belt because my disk sander is a bit small with the pad on the fixture. Then finish on a polisher with Polish O Ray www.KLStottlemyer.com Deport the Homeless and Give the Illegals citizenship. AT LEAST THE ILLEGALS WILL WORK
