Jim at Northland Shooters Supply has production pre-fit barrels for Remingtons fitted with a Savage Type barrel nut.

Flame away! (From another site)

I have been working my way to this project for over a year now. Northland Shooters Supply will be introducing their full line of Rem-Age Barrels. This package is a McGowen Stainless Prem. Match Grade Barrel that is completely finished and fully chambered with our new NSS Rem-Age Barrel Nut. As the name Rem-Age implies these barrels are a hybrid combination of the Remington Model 700 Rifles and a Savage style Barrel Nut mounted barrel. I have the first ones ordered at this time. The machine shop will have the Rem-Age Barrel Nuts done by the end of this month. I am planning on doing a 6.5-06 on my old Remington Model 700 as the first of the New Breed.

Pricing on the Rem-Age Pre-Fit Barrels will be the same as the Savage Pre-Fit McGowen Barrels. The Rem-Age Barrel Nuts are priced at $28.00 with a barrel order or $35.00 by themselves. The Rem-Age Barrel Nuts are designed to work with the Savage Barrel Nut Wrenches so no difficult to find tools are required.

Just to clarify, using the Rem-Age system, swapping your Remington 700 Barrels will no longer require a Gunsmith any more than a Savage rifle does. I would like some input from you Remington 700 shooters as to what calibers you are most interested in as well as what calibers you may want to order along with my initial stocking order.

It's a M700. It already has a washer between the receiver and barrel that acts as a recoil lug. No need to worry about screwing up its looks.

I don't have any Remingtons or Savages, but this sounds like a good option for a large segment of M700 owners.

I have made Barrel nuts for several customers and they have been very pleased with them.
This is nothing new only being advertised as an option. It will be interesting to see what barrel makers jump on this band waggon. I'll bet the better known barrel makers will not make pre-fit barrels to be used with these 1.0625 X 16tpi barrel nuts.

I don't know, it's depends of course on how popular this becomes. More and more barrel makers are doing it for Savage rifles.

I thought the same thing, but I believe there is a jig that Brownells sells that indexes the lug.

Yes, but you'll need that tool or you won't be able to reassemble your rifle.

I've got one of those tools.. but then again I also have a barrel vise and a receiver wrench for remingtons.... that being said the only rifle I mess with the barrel on is my 30-06
and I have three factory rem barrels for it... all chambered in (drum roll please...) 30-06.

Begara barrels from Spain has supposedly been doing that for a while and has them available in Europe...

I would think Remington owners would be jumping all over this option...

so this should mean that a few Remington take off barrels I have can be machined to be able to take this barrel nut also..

Then again there is also a jig made to allow drilling both the lug and front receiver ring so to PIN the recoil lug to the receiver.
