Have acquired another peep-sighted centerfire that consistantly shoots a foot high at 100 yards with its Williams peep run down as far as it will go. I understand that there is a formula that can be used to tell how much farther the rear bridge needs to be milled down to bring it down to zero, or at least no more than 2" high at 100 whicn is where I want it. Help?

How about a taller front sight instead? That seems less drastic than milling the top of the receiver. On rule I abide by is "all else being equal, do your work on the cheapest part".

Brownell's catalog has a chart in it that tells you how much correction you need based on the distance between front and rear sights. You can extropolate amounts for sight radius that fall outside the chart or distances other than 100 yards. Yeah, you could probably trig out the number, but looking it up in chart is faster.

Mill off rear sight = [2" ][distance between sights]/[distance between gun and target]

Increase on front sight = [2" ][distance between sights]/[distance between gun and target]
