I bought a CZ 550 in 458 win mag really cheap about 1 year ago. I have sent it to my gunsmith to have the following work done but have yet to discuss the incorporation of a 3 position safety. Is this available as a completely different shroud to the rear of the bolt or is it a machining process?

So Far;
1) reaming to 458 Lott
2) Cutting Barrel to 23"
3) Adding NECG fiberoptic masterpiece front sight
4) Glassing entire bedding area and barrel channel
5) Considering magnaporting
6) Adding stiffer magazine spring
7) Removing front sling stud and adding barrel band sling attachment

While the gunsmith has the firearm might as well consider the 3 position safety option.

This is a good move. You will never be sorry for having this done.

I did pretty much the same stuff to a client's gun a month or two ago. Along with that I added a new straight bolt handle as requested. The safety made by Ed Lapour is a good piece of work. It takes a bit of fitting; not for the home handyman however. It is a new piece along with the cocking piece and firing pin, i think

I have an Ed Lapour on my CZ550 Lott. It works great. Let you gunsmith install it.

Done! Just got off the phone with my gunsmith. Also asked him to install a different bolt handle.
