As usual, that engraving is just terrific. It is tastefully and appropriately designed and beautifully executed. It is a real treat to see.

The holes suggest to me there will be a lever release. (I usually associate this with German or at least European rifles.) Will the "lever" or floorplate release get similar treatment? Please keep up with the pictures.

The quality of work shown on this site continues to amaze me.

I thought most had see the previous photos. It is a lever release floorplate, but not German designed. Good old American craftsmanship.

Chic Worthing built the rifle, and I'm sure you will see more of it in the near future. Smiler

I'm not much on engraving - too easy to go off the deep end - but your work is spectacular AND tasteful. And it's only fitting that you signed it.

I agree, cool sights, versatile as well. Probably would work for the 15-20 yd shots at jumpers around here. The season opens tomorrow, I wonder if I should make a set of those and exchange them for a scope before morning? Maybe I could just pull out those inserts and have a double "ghost ring", even better.

Roger,
I got back last night from South Dakota and it looks great.

I need to add the names of others who have been part of this project. Mark Stratton built the custom scope bases, Jim Dubell built a lever release system for the floorplate, and installed the 3 pos safety that was donated by Jim Wisener. Gary Gowdy did the checkering, Talley donated the scope rings and Leupold donated the scope. Maurice had started the inletting and I completed that and the finish and the leather covered recoil pad. A recoil pad is hardly needed on this caliber but it looked good when done. Roger capped it off with his wonderful engraving. I am going to rust blue it and a few parts are going to Doug Turnbull for color case work.
