I may be getting in an old Savage 99 to fix up. The guy wants to have the metal reblued and I am looking for someone in the midwest (preferably) that I can trust.

Also I was going to start with the usual places for the inletted wood, but if anyone has some laying around, or has used someones semi-inletted wood, I would appreciate the contact.

It is an octagon barrel, and if I have to make the forend, so be it. But I would rather not make the butt stock if I didn't have to.

I would recommend John Farner for the bluing. He posts here under the name Toomanytools and is located in New Mexico. He did a couple bluing jobs for me recently and they turned out great!

Thanks Malm.

A good report (from you) about someone on this site is something I can trust. I will check with him.

He's got a great "handle" too.
