I have been using a fair bit of "Pre-64 Winchester" red stain that I bought from Galazan. Works great but it is rather dark. I would like to cut it. It's an alcohol based stain, but that's pretty much all I know about it. Anybody know what I should use to cut this stuff? Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

Why not call (or e-mail) and ask them for an MSDS on it? That will tell you what their alcohol in it is, and I will have to assume you can lighten it up by adding more of the same (diluting it). My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.
