Frank BellerPits below the wood-line .....
I have a nice Mauser action that will be used for a custom rifle; only problem - some pitting below the wood line on the action tang. Should I file the tang to remove all the pitting, or will the blueing kill any further pitting on the action ?

duikermanhere's a good use for a dremel tool. Clean the pitted areas good and just fill them with epoxy after the bluing. This assumes it don't show anywhere.
One can also tig them shut and file them flush. One can also just leave them as they don't show and as long as you keep them free of water they won't progress.
