Gentlemen:

I need a skilled metalsmith to modify a BRNO ZKW 465 magazine. This mag feeds the .22 Hornet into the old BRNO 465 [predecessor to the CZ 527?] These mags are rare as hen's teeth and the mods I need are extensive, yet fairly simple. I think it will require sectioning the mag in half longitudinally, grinding away guide rails on the inside, re welding the mag together again [external dimensions must remain constant]and making minor mods to the follower, etc.

If you are interested in tackling the job, please post here or e-mail me so we can discuss specifics and your price.

Thanks,

Jordan

Jordan,

Depending on just what is the eventual goal, perhaps fabbing a new magazine and follower might be called for ?

Also, if the magazine bottom is removeable, perhaps a machinist with an angle head might be able to remove the guide ribs without splitting the mag?

At any rate, I was a manual and CNC machinist/ programmer for about 12 years, and while I was pretty good, this guy is an absolute mechanical genius:

If you call, tell him that Scott Thornley from Precision says hello. And that I still chuckle over the orange juice incident.

Regards,
Scott

PS - did you ever make it up Shasta?

Jordan,
In many cases jons like this need to be offered to those who don't know any better and/or think they have something to prove! Otherwise, life's just too short!
This is just the sort of job that looks like it should take a couple of hours but which could easily run into six by the time it is feeding well. Now, the machinists at the local pulp mill get around 26.00 per hour plus all benefits known to man. This for mostly just sitting around contemplating life in general. So your potential metalsmith employee should be able to count on somewhere between 100 and 150 dollars for this job. Most of us don't have the heart to charge this much so we duck the job instead! Regards, Bill.

Thanks Gentlemen. Scott, I did not make it up Shasta this year---still recovering from the trip the summer before!! Bill, if you are looking for work, I'd be happy to send this mag to you for the proposed renovations. Before I commit though, I need to resolve an extractor issue first [don't want
to rennovate this from a Hornet to another wildcat if I can't get an extractor that fits].

Are you interested??
