Anyone know of a company that makes a decent stock that fits the Pre 64's that doesn't cost $400+

Bell & Carlson list a stock for the pre 64 model 70. I've used their stocks on other guns and they are a good value. You may have to do some fitting and you'll need to know whether you have a pre-war/postwar, standard/featherweight. I'm sure they have a website where you can check prices, colors, option, etc.

Why dont you buy the Darcy Echold Legend stock?

He sells them for 365$.. will be worth the money.

He sent me an e-mail with one of his rifles. That is a thing of beatuy. Even though its a syntetic stock!

Absolutely the best synthetic stocks made...IMO. They make the Echols stock.

I just installed a McMillan Hunters Edge on my MRC rifle and really like it. I agree they are nice stocks, but expensive. My top two choices were, McMillan and Rimrock by Borden Rifle Co.

How did the McMillan fit on the MRC? Was it a drop in?

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

This is their new carbon fibre stock right?

Is it substantially lighter than the regualar McMillan stocks?

Snowwolfe and ErikD, yes the Hunters edge is their new ultralight stock. It weighs right at 1.5 lbs and is a drop in for the Montana Rifle Co. The stock is based on the Winchester blank and altered to fit the MRC action. Fit is excellent, typical of McMillan, everywhere except at the rear tang. The tear dropped shaped tang behind the safty sticks up a bit which I may or may not correct when I bed the action.
