I have a buddy looking to put together a 35 whelen on the cheap, and with a ss tube. I don't think he'll have much luck with a take off, but figured I'd ask.

Paul-

Try I.T. & D. Custom Gun in Ohio, 330-868-6867. He usually has a good selection of new take-offs.

Paul,

I just got off the phone with Dave, all he has laying around,is a Mauser threaded Douglas blank, chambered in 358STA.

No way to clean up that chamber and allow your pard enough shank diameter,on the Whelen conversion.

I'll keep sniffin' and will hoot if I get a bite...........

Larry,

I figure that the only tubes that might be laying around would likely be a .358 Norma, though perhaps there is a ss .358 win lying around. The other issue is he wants to build it on a Ruger M77, so likely will have to lop off the threaded portion of the tube barrel, and then what is left for the chamber section?

He's probably best of with a shaw or similar bargain barrel.
