With scope it's right at nine. Or I should say should be right at nine. I'm not quite done yet. The stock I have needs to have the fore end shortened and there is more shaping to do. Still, it should be darn close to 9 even. On the one hand, that's only half a pound more than my very first bolt action which is a rem 700 in .30-06. When I was young I welcomed the extra weight since I was skinny and the gun kicked a lot, or so it seemed. Now that I'm fat and recoil doesn't bother me much I tend to prefer lighter rifles. Not ultra light just lighter. Still, it seems to balance pretty well and that is something I can live with.

Project is a 9.3x62 on a Mauser action. Bbl length 26". Do I want a Pac-nor #3 or #4 contour?

Open Sights or scope?

I've got a Douglas #4 on my 338-06 and I think it is a tad too heavy with a scope mounted. Would have prefered the #3 profile in a 26" length. With iron sights it would be fine.
