Does anyone have any experience with Bob James of Bob's Custom Guns in Polson, MT? I'm looking for someone to do a facelift on my 16 gauge Fwt LC Smith--new english walnut stock, some engraving, redo case colors, reblue, etc....
Just wondering.

Never had any work done by him, but he does have a beautiful shop!

There was a newspaper piece on him a year or two ago, detailing the nice stockwork.

My tastes run more toward Wal-Mart 870s, so I guess I'll never know!

ACRECURVE:

I have had Bob complete two rifle stock jobs for me. Each case consisted of carving a stock from a blank and checkering. On the Model 70, I had him install a skelton butt plate and a skelton grip cap.

The work was high quality and timely.

I do not know his shotgun work but I can recommend Bill Heckman, Heckman Specialties, Livington, Mt(406-222-8618). Bill worked for many years in the Krieghoff repair shop. This chap is top of the line when it comes to high quality shotguns.

Here's a 16 ga. LC Smith in process:

Duane Wiebe is doing the metal work and stocking. Charles Lee (formerly with Purdey and David McKay Brown) did the engraving. It's actually pretty reasonable as these things go. Send me an email and I give you the details.
