Hi, I have the opportunity to buy a 1980 vintage M70, cal. 300WM at a good price; I plan to rebarrel it in a bigger caliber, let's say, 338 WM or 340 Weath. Does the action/magazine can hold the (longer) Weath. cartridge? Will I experience feeding issues? Thanks.

You will need to keep the OAL to factory specs with the 340. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

Dirk, due to the stupid italian gun law, my choice of caliber is VERY limited. Doug, I will likely choose the 338 then.

I don't see why the 340 wouldnt work, it should be the same OAL as a 300 Wby and I have a M70 of about the same vintage in that caliber. Now the 338-378, THATS a different story If you think every possible niche has been filled already, thank a wildcatter!

Do you mean .300 Weatherby Mag or Winchester Mag? /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Winston Churchill
