I'm replacing my Planet of the Apes carbine stock with a mannlicher. Will try a low profile Kydex handguard. Stock is from Macon (I think)

The last 3 or 4 stocks I did were all from stocks/wood I already had laying around for years.

After this I MAY try a Yugo 24/47 from a blank.

The truly grotesque part is that someone turned a valuable carbine into scrap iron. I know, back then they were not collected.

As an engineer I once worked with would say, " It's fine as far as form, fit, and function goes, but it looks like shit."

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I guess stock design is largely a matter of taste but I shudder at the scope mounts. One stumble could knock that scope way out and bend it to boot.

Is that an 'African fore end' on the second stock?

working with what I got, all the stocks were 20+ years old or original with the rifles. The M1 mannlicher was an ocd purchase.

Not a fan of the thumb hole stocks. Until you last post, I was trying to figure out if that was a M1 carbine or not!

It's an M1 Carbine, knocking the scope out of alignment and bending it might increase your odds of hitting what you are aiming at.

M1 carbine? customized is time wasted, they suit only the original stock..

Your not using your talent! Do a Mauser or a PRE 64. That will keep you from going insane! dancing

As an ex-Californian, I believe that stock should be called "California style"
