What I have found to work well is spray paint. Spray a little in a small container and use an artist brush to do the actual painting. You may have to try a few different black sprays, but some are very close to the same color/finish. I have had best luck with Krylon. They make one that I think they call "semi-flat" in black. Flat black is too flat and will not match well. Or you may be able to find something that matches in a small bottle.

I suppose you can either try the paint thing which may match up reasonably well or you can send it off for a new tube at leupold and then upon it's return place some of that camo tape over it. I cart my rifles around on my back while riding my dirt bike so I put camo tape on them for the same reason. I am one of those people who hates scratches to I know how you feel, I do not have much $$ and therefore due to the fact a lot of hard yards have gone into my purchases I like to look after my stuff. Leupold should actually sell matte touch up paint they would make a packet I reckon. Maybe they do ![[Confused]](images/icons/confused.gif)

for small scatches on black matte stuff i've used a black permanant marker,,,mainly just to knock off the bare metal shine.I put a very sweet jp.sauer 30/06 sporter back on the rack last month after pondering on it getting scatched up,bumped, and the dust and dirt it would have to go through with me.It has beautifull wood, and, after you got over that, the action was slicker than a wet watermelon seed. The couple of rifles I tote a lot[10/22,.308 turkington] are pretty scratched up and have a few rub marks from riding with me day in,day out. But,they're damn accurate.A non shooting buddy of mine watched me take out 5 consecutive targets, with 5 shots,at various yardages,in very short order.I looked back to see him staring at me,then he said,"I'm glad i'm on your side"
