cutting barrels with tapered bore.
i am conisdering cutting a 25.6" CHF Steyr rifle BBl to 22".
the reason i am hesitant is that Steyrs have a tapered bore.
what should i do.

Tapered from what to what? I'm not familiar with Steyr's. Do they taper lap the bore? If so it would only be a tenth or two and probably wouldn't affect much.

You might try pushing a sinker or soft lead slug through the bore from the breach. If it is tapered you will feel it.

just cut it where you want it. It should not be oversized at any point in th ebarrel and it will not matter hwere you cut it
