I have a customized pre 64 winchester model 70 action with an unmarked barrel. I haved traded it off already, and while packing to ship, I found the makers mark on the front of the action, left side, just behind the barrel. an ellipse, with a long stemmed P, and a W superimposed over the P. wondering if this was Weatherby's mark? or is it on all prewar 70's? It came with light weatherby style wood stock, complete with skip line checkering and inlaid diamonds, etc. checkered bolt handle, and polished and slicked action. did not, however, shoot all that well Thanks for any info.
