I was at the gun show this weekend and a gunsmith had a Mauser 98 style action that was newly manufactured in Italy imported through a company in Alexandia VA. It had 3 postion safety like a Mod. 70 and adjustable trigger. He didn't remember the name of the importer. It was a little rough and retailed for $390. He knew it was not KBI Charles Daly (Mark X).

Any ideas? Anyone heard of this new action source?

rr340,
sounds like the actions advertised in gun list for the past couple years. from Alex Imports in CA. one is a Mauser K98 made by Global of Italy, stated a perfect repo., forged and worked by CNC machines with all the bells and whistles. The other is a Belgin mfg. on commercial mauer prints with the 3pos. safety and 09 argie tg. Stated one piece forging from nickel steel.prices bet. 400-500 usd. i posted a question last yr. about the above but nobody responded. Sofar your the first to see one, seemed a little expensive just to take a look see. What do you think of it as compared to the post war comm. FN or the Mark X.

Well the metal finish was not as smooth as the Mark X or FN. Lot of mill marks below the stock line. The top was polished about like and ADL. The trigger looked like the Mark X without the safety. The Safety looked like a Gentry. It had a hinged floor plate and also has bases that look like a Sako built in. If I wanted the 3 postion safety It would be cheaper than converting the FN or Mark X. If you wanted an end product that had a Weatherby polish on it you would have a lot of work.

Something smells strange here, but I am willing to learn...
The only non-Carcano Italian bolt actions of recent times that I would have know of, have been made by Beretta, Zoli and Sabatti. "Global Trading s.r.l." however is listed in the IWA 2001 guide (globaltrading@tin.it) and seems to be a newcomer. Interesting. Would like to know more about them.

Regards,
Carcano

Been doing some looking today. It looked a lot like the cz550 but, I have not seen one in person. Also have found out that Leagacy Sports International is operating out of Alexandria and they are importing Howa since Interarms went under. I have a call into them to see if they are handling an action from Italy.

Legacy Sports is importing an Italian-made mauser 98 type action that sells for around $400 USD. I was reading a magazine (I believe Peterson's Rifle Shooter) and there was an article on modern mausers, and this was one that was mentioned. I especially remember this one because I spent about n hour trying to find their web-site.

Their Web site is still under construction.
