1909 on top

richj-

In fitting 1909 bottoms with VZ-24's are you experiencing an issue of "hole spacing" or do the action screws have different threads?

Snellstrom-

I am not an expert (thus, I should probably not comment) but, the safety looks like a Dakota to me.

if the screws do not interchange then something is wrong with the female threads in one of the actions. All of the Mauser screws are the same.

I am betting that isn't a Dakota Safety. Looks more like the safety that Wisner used to make, but it looks even more like those safeties that Jeffe was selling awhile back!

Agreed...it's not a Dakota.

Sorry guy's I'm in Vegas for the Holidays. The Safety is from Jeffe. I'll check the screws when I get back.

Did you make that button release yourself. If so you did a nice job on it.

The release was a "gift" from my gunsmith. I guess he likes the pictures I take. I'm not sure who made it. He said it might need a bit of weld in the inside where the spring rests.

Well, you have a very generous gunsmith who does nice work. If you are real good with a checkering file a few scratches on it would make it look even nicer.

And, if you have an extra $50 in the wallet sometime in the future (price may have gone up a bit since the last time I ordered one) you can get a very nice Straddle Floorplate for that 1909 Triggerguard from Wisner. They are oversize and you have to fit them using small files and stones, but once you get done polishing the whole thing you will have one hell of a nice action all set and ready to make into a nice custom sporter.
