I have been given 2 mauser action. One is a vz-24 with a bolt. The second is a german 98 with no bolt. The VZ action is twisted and the bolt will close, but is very tight. My question is can i use the VZ bolt in the german action when it gets re-barreled.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, the vz24 is considered a 98 variant so its bolt will fit the German 98.

Dear DPM:

Make sure that you lap the new bolt in about .001-.002" or until you have at least 75% engagement on the upper and lower lug recesses.

Don't go too far, or your safety may become difficult to use as it will probably bind.

Sincerely,

Chris Bemis
