I have a chance to buy a CZ550 in 9.3x62 which will include Talley Lever release rings and the NECG Classic rear island and NECG Universal Banded front sight w/ interchangeable front sight.

Having never dealt w/ any of the above mentioned items, I wanted to make sure I new what to look for when I get the pics and subsequently, the gun before finalizing the deal.

I'm not so worried about the gun nor the Talley's. It's the iron sights I have zero experience in. Just want to know what to look for as to installation, quality of work, etc. I've been told the only work on the main rear blade is a notch sufficient to zero a 286 gr XXX @ 100 yds. How hard and what tool/s are necessary to sight in the other blades?

FYI, I ordered the McMillan stock made for the CZ550 in solid olive green.

For one thing there isn't a Universal banded front sight! There is a Masterpiece banded front sight.

My apologies. I have never seen one. I never saw on the NECG web site either. Oops, there it is! Sorry.

There is not much to worry about with the 2 NECG sights you mention. The front is adjustable for elevation and the rear is adjustable for height and windage.

It doesn't much matter to me whether they are soldered on or not, or screwed and glued!

Short of the plane falling out of the sky into a round top granite mountain in Zimbabawe, they are both about equally sturdy.

As far as I know there is only one rear blade. I file them out to a shallow V. You can always order another one if you screw it up.

Universal or Masterpiece, I have no idea which one. When I look at the NECG web site, it gives me an idea of what I might expect.

I will carry the rifle in a Eberlestock Just One, J107 pack. Wonder if the front sight will interfear with insertion or removal of the rifle from the scabbard?

GSSP

The main difference I've noticed

The Universal is only a parallel band the masterpiece has a slight taper, and the universal in only made for smaller barrel thickness, the masterpiece does all the thinner barrels thicknesses and wider
