Got a chance to buy a really nice Husquvarna 9.3x57 built on a large ring, M-98 action (as opposed to the more common M-96 action). I've heard that the conversion to 9.3x62 with this action and magazine for a base is a piece of cake -- just a simple ream job.

Is this true?

The 9.3x62 will clean up the chamber. There might be a slight issue in theneck. The 9.3x57 neck size is .394 while the 62 is .390. Depending on how your chamber was cut you might see a slight ring on your brass. If so you can always just cut your neck to .394 to smooth it up. Your fired brass will never know the difference.

As usual just my $.02

Unless you plan to take THAT rifle to Africa and shoot cape buff or elephant, or Alaska and shoot brown bear, I would not change it.

The 9,3x57 is a pretty good hunting cartridge in its own right.

Baised on my use of them in my 9,3x74R double rifle the 270, Speer would be perfect for the 9,3x57.

Also is the rifle scoped??

I bought a Husky 9.3x57 planning on making it a 62. After playing with it I left well enough alone.

Actually, it will go to Africa as my youngest son wants to shoot a cape buffalo with a 9.3, which is the reason for the project.
