I have a CZ 527 in .17 Remington that I'd like to have the barrel set back and rechambered to .17 Mach IV.

Any recomendations on gunsmiths for this project ?

This'll be my spare bobcat rifle as well as just a new project that I really, truly need.

instead of doing all that, why not just work up a blue dot load that duplicates the mk iv

I'm not so sure about Blue Dot in a 17 Rem., they're already tempermental. And I want 3500fps with a Berger 25 gr. and the 17 Mach
IV does that very consistently, whereas my reduced velocity 17 Rem. loads are kinda eratic.

These rifles have one single purpose and that is shooting bobcats with no pelt damage for the fur market.

Skinner.....A shooting buddy and I have enjoyed very consistant, less than full throttle loads, with IMR 4895 powder, in our .17 Rems...An older Hornady reloading manual gives us a good starting load. Several foxes hit in the chest area, exhibit the "bang, flop," syndrome, with an almost invisible entrance hole, massive internal damage, and NO exit! You might give it a try before spending lots of money on a rechambering job.........By the way, my buddy has a CZ .22 Hornet...And it's got to be the most accurate, off the shelf, varmint rifle, I have ever seen! Grant.

Kevin Weaver and Greg Tannel both do a lot of small cal work (CZ'S included)for the guys on the saubier.com forum (best small cal knowledge on the web, IMO).
Also the CZ527 metric thread (1.25mm)just happens to matchup very close to "standard" 20tpi, if you have a local gunsmith and reamer handy.
Downloading cartridges, though sometimes practical, is sorta boring. I love the excuse to buy another rifle/cartridge combo!
The 17M4 is a fun cartridge, and when you have one, then you'll want a 17AH....
