Half Moon bolt handles

Gents:

I received some printed info from Half Moon Rifle Shop concerning their bolt handles. Wondering if anyone can help:

The initial recommendation came as a response to my query regarding the replacement of a bolt handle on my dad's BRNO ZKK 602 in 375 which is the basis of a project.

Half Moon offers the following:

A. Tom Burgess Classic small .750

B. Tom Burgess Standard Classic .790

C. Oberndorf-style .840

D. Generic Round Ball .805

E. German-style favored by Martini Hagn .735

What would be the best bolt handle to use? The Oberndorf look to be the longest, by the way.

Also, can anyone remind me of Half Moon's proprietor's name, please?

Thanks. Jeff

The Oberndorf style is roughly the same as Tom Burgess' magnum Oberndorf style. It would look best on your big CZ.

Length is a non-issue. All can be lengthened or shortened as needed.

The Oberndorf-style (.840) would be the way to go with your CZ and a .375.

It's a great looking bolt handle.

May the wind be in your face and the sun at your back.

IMO, the large Oberndorf-style looks good on just about everything. Here's one on a Husky 1640

Speaking of Half Moon, could anyone give me some feedback on Jim's barrels? I'm considering specifying one for my next project and was wondering how they have worked out for forum members.

Thanks.

Half Moon barrels have been noted for quality for years. Fortunately, there's a lot of choices in barrels these days...new ones seem good and the older makers just get better

My friend George Hoenig uses them on his Rotary Round action rifles. If you know George, you'd know he doesn't use anything but the best. that's about all the endorsement you need_Baxter

I spoke with Jim today about his barrels and bolt handles. Very nice man. Said he stays pretty busy with barrel work and he gets a lot of unusual barrel orders, not many of the same request. He said between his bluing work, bolt handles and barrels he is plenty busy. Interestingly he is making barrel blanks for Freedom Arms' use on their revolvers. Apparently they like cut rifled barrels for them.

I'm planning to order a 6.5 mm blank and one of his bolt handles for my next Ed Lapour barreled action.
