Anyone ever file off the factory checkering and make a smooth oval ball bolt knob on a Rem 700?
Thinking of a stainless bolt knob.

I bought a second hand 700 the other day and it had a JB weld knob built up and sanded smooth then blued.

It looked ok, made a round knob out of it anyway.

I am afraid it is at the barrel guy, getting reborn and I have no photos of it.

It is getting a Hollands gunsmithing bolt handle welded on while it visits Pac-Nor.

I've owned several M700 actions that had smooth bolt knobs from the factory.

I turn them off in the lathe then thread the stub and put whatever I like on them.
