Is it possible to rechamber a CZ 550 sporter from a 30'06 to a 300wMg without opening a huge can or worms? I've found a used CZ in '06 at a reasonable price - we are still arguing about that one! but I want a 300WMg and CZ does not chamber one in a 550 sporter, or even in the Safari grade anymore according to the '05 catalog. Will the magazine well accept the 300's ammo with no, or at least minimal, alterations?
Or would it be cheaper/better to pull the '06 barrel and spend the bux for a new barrel?? Understand I am suffering with a major case of AIDS here... "Acute Income Deficiency Syndrome"!!!
Anybody using the A&B barrels from Midway? Any insight would be appreciated.

I am no expert but I believe it is possible to rechamber. Bolt face may be an issue. Find a competant smith and discuss your options with him.

It will be no problem.
It needs the bolt face opened up and rechambering and you will be set to go.

Ron,
take a look at the original CZ-site www.czub.cz. There they still offer the 550 Medium in 300WM. Same goes for the 550 Mag type.

Cant believe it is impossible for you to get one of those since all the CZ stuff comes from the same place ultimately.

Besides, its almost Yule !!!

Regards

Yes it could be done a friend did it as the 550 mag in 300 WM it's to heavy and the 30'06 to 300 it's a more balanced rifle .

Saludos

Is not rifling rate an issue here? The 300WinMag may like 1:10 while the 30-'06 likes 1:12? Choose wisely...
