Here's what I'd do: Buy a model 70 in .300 WSM, then scope it and shoot it. If it doesn't show real promise, at least you can salvage the action and use it as the basis for a custom .300 WSM. I usually spend my rifle money on custom jobs, because I do think the difference in performance is well-worth the money. D'Arcy Echols builds my rifles, but I don't think he has any plans to make custom .300 WSM's. You might give Rifles, Inc. a call and ask Lex about a custom .300 WSM that's built to your specifications. He does very good work, and at a very fair price. He's a serious hunter, and that shows in his product. AD | ||

Check out the Winchester web site...there is a 300 wsm with a laminated stock on the way. I've heard July 1, 2001. | |||
