500 Jeffery reamer question
It will soon be time to cut the chamber on my 500 Jeffery (.510) barrel blank.

I have found 2 reamer rentals for this caliber so far.
I am also aware of the problems regarding chamber dimensions (i.e. Schuler vs. Jeffery, etc).

Does anyone know of a reamer rental facility that has the correct (Jeffery version) dimensions?

Thanks,

Garrett

Just make sure you can verify that the reamer and gages are to 2000 CIP dimensions

Duane,

Thanks, and I agree with you.

I was posting to see if someone here has already found that information.

i did mine to CIP.. but you can beat all "fears" around this by doing one of two things.

1: send a copy of your reamer print to dave at CH4D and have your dies made to it.
2: use the same print as cz us / empire rifles ... between the two of them, they'll make more 500 jeffes this year than had been made "ever" excluding them ... they will be driving the market as the defacto std, for ammo and dies

Call Dave as fast as you can...he's making a run of 1" dies right now, your wait time may be significantly less if he gets it done and off to the heat treater now.

Are you going to use the Jamison brass???

Fireball,

Thanks, I'll call Dave at CH4D.

I have about 100 Bertram cases, which seem fine.

I'm just having trouble finding the reamer, hence my question here.
Thanks,
Garrett

Hate to say this, but you will probably experience extraction problems with Bertram brass

your bertram brass, if you have had it longer than about 8 months, is SOFT...i have tried bertram and hornber.. NO COMPARISON!!! bertram brass used to be crap... they have listened, and the NEW brass www.custombrassandbullets.com is pretty darn good....
