These are on a Mauser LR 19" 7x57 (used to be) stepped barrel.

Looks good. A little trick i use is to set the tool(I asume you made a form tool)below center. You will get very attractive chatter marks. Try it on a piece of scrap. You might like it.

If you're stuck having to use the original stepped barrel then that is one option. What's the joint line on the first picture?
