I picked up a Mauser actioned custom and have found that the rifle won't fully eject, or kick out empties after firing. The brass is pulled out of the chamber and has to be manually removed. Can one replace or add an ejector and what is the cost to do so? Thanks! If it is a conventional Mauser ejector/box/bolt stop then it is quite easy and cheap to replace the ejector if that is the problem. Less than $10. Could also be a broken ejector spring. Those are cheap too. There is another type that uses a flat slotted spring screwed to the left rear of the receiver. Not sure about the availability and cost of that version.

OK just in case. The mauser relies on the bolt being pulled back sharply and the rear of the case striking the front of the ejector. Not like a M700 etc that has a spring to eject the case. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

Nope... yanked like an SOB and still no ejection of the unfired round. OK Just wanted to make sure. So without the case when you pull the bolt all the way back is the ejector exposed through the bolt face? Things that come to mind is the ejector is short or damaged. The spring is week and the ejector doesn't move into the bolt. Something is keeping the bolt from full rear travel. I did have an extractor so loose it would drop the case on the way back and not hit the ejector. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

It shouldnt be hard to diagnose. The Mauser ejection system is pretty simple. When you pull the bolt all the way back without a case does the ejector appear in, and protrude from the groove in the bolt head? If not, there is your problem. If so, then the ejector is either moving when you yank the bolt back, OR the bolt is not coming all the way back when you do and the bolt head is hanging on to the case. Causing the case to stop the rearward movement of the bolt at the ejector. Which would be weird, but those are about the only possibilities. Actually one other possibility is that there is something obstructing the full rearward movement of the bolt.

It could be as simple as dirt, gummy oil or overlooked cosmoline binding the ejector. Give it a thorough cleaning. "A cheerful heart is good medicine."

Wouldn't hurt to remove the bolt and check the corner of the ejector blade for a rounded condition. Here's one for comparison. http://www.ebay.com/itm/K98-Ma...a:g:JIoAAOSwe7BWvmKX Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.
