Armalite AR-30 Question
I'm interested in re-chambering an AR-30 from 300 Win. Mag. to 300 Ultra Mag, anybody have hands-on experience that can tell me if the magazine will work?

I'm just interested in knowing if the conversion will work, not your opinion on why it shouldn't be done. Or, that your Sisters Mothers Daughter had one and it wouldn't shoot the super trick double whammy stump killer bullets she bought at a yard sale, I'm just interested in knowing if the conversion will work. Thanks

never done it.. but i'd take a mag to a local gunshop and see if they would let you try fit a couple rounds.

300win is 3.34 oal and .532 max diameter

300 ultra is 3.6 and .550 max...

i would highly doubt it fits into the mag at saami length..

but i'd just ask the local gunshop if you could testfit 2 or 3.

opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club

I don't have a mag....or a rifle. I was trying to figure this out before plunking down 16 Benjamins. Thanks

What are the differences in pressure specs between the 2 rounds. Can the AR platform handle the extra pressure?

They make that rifle in the 338 Lapua too and the OAL of that round is in and around 3.6 to 3.75 depending on bullet weight. The rim is .588 and the solid web is .587. Don't know if the magazine well is the same width the 300 Win Mag as the 338 Lapua. Might call Armalite and ask them about what you want to do.

I'm thinking that you are thinking that the rifle spoken about is the semi auto AR series. It's not, it's a bolt action rifle.
