Has Remington changed the barrel contour in the past 40+ years in the standard ADL/BDL barrels? (I'm not talking mountain rifles, sendero, etc.) I picked up 1965 700 ADL 30/06 cheap and want to add bottom metal and a take-off synthetic stock but I didn't know if they had changed the contour between then and now. I'm just looking for something cheap to let my brother use when he comes elk hunting while I decide what cartridge to rebarrel it to. (thinking .35 Whelen???)
