the M24/47 IMO can't be better suited than chambered to the 6.5 X 55, 7 X 57, .257 Roberts or 6MM Remington! This family is ideally suited to this action. As to the 1909, Personally, I'd stick to the family of 30-06 cases.....and I include the 9.3 X 62 here. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." If those are the cartridges you want, then I see nothing wrong with them. The sizes are both realistic and suited to the actions. I see no valid reason for limiting one's self to the -06 family when the original short magnums work perfectly well. Well, that is, if you know what you are doing.

No flies on the 6.5 x 55 and brass is easy to find but the 6.5 x 57 is also a great option. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

I like the idea of turning the 24/47 into a 6.5x55 for the 1909 i would rather stay away from the 30-06 family . remember the 2% rule you must be 2% smarter then what you are trying to do
