Has anyone been using Clenzoil Field & Range oil? Supposedly it�s a cleaner, lubricant, and corrosion preventative. It is a non-Teflon, non-silicon product. I am wondering how it stacks up against CLP, Kroil, and Butch�s Gun Oil.

Any ideas?...

I havn't tried that product. I prefer
that old natural gap grease. It's low calory
and very habit forming. It also tastes good.

Amazing as it sounds, regular transmission oil is the worlds purest oil in the modern world and the cheapest...I use it a lot.

Snake oil must have got it's name from the lubricant business. There has always been a lot of niche marketing.

I would vote for a pure synthetic engine oil for guns. It's pour point, even in the heavier viscosities, is close to -60F.

A synthetic gear oil (EP) would have more load carrying abilities but they tend to smell.

ATF transmission oil is additive city. One with a synthetic base stock would be very good.

I recall buying pure whale oil packaged up for guns.
