I went a recknagel banded masterpiece on my 9x57 and the more l look around l see that lots of others have also chosen this sight. I'm starting to think about something a little different and was wondering if anyone has gone the recknagel universal sight? To me it looks this sight allows easier insert changes compared to the masterpiece and also gives you some fine tuning ability for elevation. Why isn't this sight more popular?
Is there any reason that a sight that is meant to be attached by a screw can't be attached by soldering? Do l need to plug the hole prior to soldering? Will this be significantly weaker than the banded version?

The Universal sights are best for fine tuning one particular load. The Masterpiece sights allow a quick change for different loads or conditions.

Both are available with barrel bands. If soldering, the screw is used to hold the ramp in place during the procedure if the barrel is already drilled and tapped. If not, I would just epoxy the head into the hole afterwards.
