How are the Blackhawk front sights attached? Solder?

I'm thinking about buying one and cutting the barrel down to 5.5" and was wondering what might be involved regarding removal and reattachment of the sight.

Thanks.

Not a smith, but a hobbiest. I shortened a 7.5 to 5.5 yesterday. Put a Bowen on. I took the old sight off the stub and it was soldered with a locater pin. Some tough solder there.

I believe they are silver brazed and take quite a lot of heat to remove. They have a locating pin as well.

Two of mine are soldered on and one has a screw in the top just behind the blade.

Brownells sells them for $8.65, so just buy a new one and avoid a lot of drama.
