With octagon barrels I use my pistol sight press. With ramp sights I use the Lyman sight press when ever I can. All others I do in the vise with padded jaws and a hammer and brass or aluminum punch. If I had a horizontal spindle on my mill I would use that spindle to hold a punch and press them that way. Doing it in the vertical spindle is just to hard on the machine and collets. When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years! Rod Henrickson

They typically have a small set-screw accessed through a hole in the top of the sight. The hole is visible after flipping the lever that holds the inserts to one side. One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I'll never know. - Groucho Marx
