If Canada opens up, we plan to leave a camper in Alaska over the next winter. I only want to move my heavy revolver up to Alaska once. It is a Raging Bull, in 454, second with an X serial number, due to a casting flaw on the barrel shroud. It shoots great, and has the lifetime warranty on everything except the cosmetic flaw. I bought it cheap. So, I want to leave it in the camper over the winter. I know I cannot stop a thief from 5,000 miles away, but I do want to destroy the economic value to the crook. Removing the cylinder and yoke should do the job. My understanding is just remove the front side plate screw. Then pull off the yoke and cylinder. I will mail it home to me to avoid export/import problems with the US and Canada. Will the yoke and cylinder come off by just removing the front screw? Will other parts fall off inside? Just put the screw back in? Thanks guys, of course I could just have a gunsmith inspect and store for about a dollar a day.

Yes, it is the screw directly above the trigger on the frame. Remove it and then swing out the crane and cylinder. Then wiggle and pull forward. However I think they would still steal the frame. If for nothing else just to spite you for trying to disable it. My advice is to get a plastic ammo can and bury it. Put the revolver in a gallon zip bag inside with a silica packet. That would be if you are leaving the camper on a piece of property. If you are leaving it at a storage facility see if they can store it in a safe for you. A dollar a day to store a revolver is a rip-off!
