MileHighShooterRuger MKII in tang safety stock
Bought a really nice semi on eBay that was listed as a mauser stock. It was delivered, and I noticed it was actually inletted for a Ruger. I've got 2 Rugers I bought for projects, so no problem there. Put it aside and forgot about it.
Last night I was comparing the semi to my factory stock and it want until then, that I discovered its inletted for a tang safety ruger (doh!!).
Can I fit the MKII into the TS stock? They look to be very close. I know there will be a gap, but my thoughts were to fill in the old tang area, with black epoxy. It's got so much potential. Easiest would obviously be buy another TS, but I really wanted to use this for a big bore, and wanted the CRF action. I already ordered the RSM parts to open it up, and I don't mind the extra work/ cost of fitting.
Can you? Sort of; I did put a tang safety in a boat paddle stock. You will have a gap on both sides of the rear receiver and you will have to inlet for the tang. BUT, the magazine box, trigger guard and floor plate are different and I replaced those. You will see when you compare them. Guard screws are different lengths too,

MileHighShooterOther way around, the stock is TS, I want to put the MKII in it.
I'm replacing the magazine with a 375 H&H from an RSM, so that's all being changed any ways.
I'd love to just pop the MKII in there, but the barrel channel hasn't been opened up, and i don't have a bare action to test

jeffeossoyou can (CAN) FIT a mkii in a mki stock, with some gaps -- except the round top original ... a mkII in a mki stock will have gaps, including the tang, which might need to be filled ...
not pretty, but can function

MileHighShooterGreat! I won't mind a couple of filled gaps. I'd hate to sell this stock, no way I'm going to find another at the price I paid, and I can't think of anything I'd want to build on a TS, plus they're starting to climb in price around here.
