Gents:

I have a S&W 29-2 and after some 22 years the trigger stud broke.
It looks like it is a pressed in type,the question is how do I get the old piece out?
Also is there a diff in this part as to the 29-3,4 or 5 ?
And does this part come in oversized sizes to corect the worn trigger hole.
Any help would be appreciated.

I suggest sending it back to Smith & Wesson for repair. If I understand what broke, the stud that one drops the trigger onto? If so I am almost 100% sure its a factory or authorized repairshop item.

Don't know where you are in AB but there used to be an authorized repair shop in Great Falls, MT. Then again how the heck you would get the gun back into Canada may be a problem.

Hi Martin. I haven't had this problem with any of my Smith's, but I believe the stud is pressed in before the frame is finished. There is a S & W warranty guy in Vancouver. Murry Smith or something, he did some work for me quite some time ago. It turned out Ok. If you want some more info let me know and I'll dig through my records. - Dan

You right the stud is pressed in and silver soldered in place.
I did some checking around myself and talked to Murry yesterday.
His solution is to send the gun to the States and for $250 they will put a new pin in and reblue the gun.
Now as you may know, up untill 10 years ago S&W used a blueing proces based on bone,this resulted in a very deep blueing.
I don't want to loose the blueing just for the stud.

I then talked to Bill at Premier and he will replace the stud for $60 by milling the old stud out and thread a new oversize one in,this way the blueing can be saved .

Also my 602 is still sitting in the rack.
