Can someone tell me what the nominal holespacing is for scope bases?

Thanks.

They are all different in some respects. Mostly, the front receiver ring spacing on the 70's and 700's is .860". The rear bridge is sometimes .860", sometimes less, .500" or so. Which particular rifle are you asking about?

I was wondering as I have an m98 drilled and tapped, the Farrell mount doesn't exactly match the hole spacing. I can get the rear bridge screw in, the front screw on the receiver ring, but not the second screw next to the laoding port. It is just off enough it cannot thread in. I need to measure these things up before I figger out if it is the mount or the holes drilled wrong.

McFarland's book on gunsmithing has a chart of the Weaver mount reciever or barrel radius' and hole spacings for the different rifle makes and models.
