Bill/OregonBanded front ramp for a really big barrel?
Anyone know an affordable source for a banded front ramp sight like the NECG, but large enough to go on a .935 diameter barrel? This is for my .577 3-inch Martini project.

N. GarrettBill,
I had a similar issue with the front (banded) sight on my 404 Jeffery and 375 wildcat.
One of the members here now has the 404, so perhaps he'll chime in with how it looks.
I added a muzzle brake on both those rifles (from American Safe Arms) that consists of a sleeve (like an outside barrel), from the barrel shank, to the muzzle.
So, the final product looks like a rifle with a 10 gauge shotgun barrel (escaping gases bleed on the inside of the sleeve, and actually reduce the sound of the report).
No banded front sight was large enough, so I purchased the largest size available, cut the band on the inferior surface with a bandsaw(parallel to the axis of the barrel), and then spread the two "wings" of the front sight so that it fit the new barrel size.
You can then smooth and taper where the cut is made, and it looks as good as if it were made that way (although of course now the "band" is no longer a cylinder, but flanges or wings).

WinkHere are a couple of pics of a barrel banded front sight on a large diameter barrel:
You'll have to ask Garrett where he got the front sight.
