I’m considering the purchase of a Weatherby Ultra light in .243. For my own personal taste, I would like to have the rifle accurized, barrel free floated and rechambered for 6mm Rem. A/I. Is this a difficult project and are there any severe issues or drawbacks to my thoughts? Your comments and suggestions would be appreciated Thanks, Dave

Was looking at a 308 win and 240wm ultralights the other day,and was considering whats required to do something like you say. I like the rifles, thought about one in 6.5x55,7x57, or wildcat 7mmx60s. Have to muck around with magbox, and probably machine a longer keyway in bottom of bolt body to allow longer draw of bolt. I would prefer get one made for 06 length catridge and work the other way. Even simpler, Why not just suffer a 240wm?...Buts its probably not what you want. They are indeed one of the sweetest rifle actions around.
