The loading gate on this gun sometimes wont open. The trigger stays back when this happens. If I push the trigger forward the gate will open. Before I go into the gun can anyone tell me what the problem is and how to fix it. Thanks

The Ruger 44 Mag was my first centerfire rifle.

Sounds like a well worn part or something broken.

Do a search, type in, hunting.about.com ruger 44 mag, and there is a site with complete take down instructions for the Ruger Deerstalker/Mod44.

Are you sure he is talking about a rifle and not a single action revolver.

homer Now that I think about it, No I am not sure, he probably is talking about the new single action.

I forgot that the loading gate on the new model Ruger single action frees up the cylinder, and does some other things inside the gun when you open it...

I was thinking about the loading gate on the semiauto 44 Mag rifle. shocker rotflmo Roll Eyes

Sorry I wasn't clear. The gun in question is the flat top anniversary model 44 Mag. revolver. The gun has only been shot about fifty time working up loads. I called Ruger Arms yesterday and they are sending me all new trigger parts. Thanks for your help.
