jeffeosso"exotic" composites - who does carbon fiber casting?
Does anyone know anyone that does carbon fiber casting? kevlar? any of the "new materials" stuff?
what I have it mind is a 10"x10"X40" hollow tube, with a couple aluminum mounting plates.

Toomany ToolsYou might contact Bushmaster as they are marketing AR-type rifles with receivers made from some high-teck non-metal stuff.

Rusty MarlinJeff, you know that stuff isn't cast right?
It's laid up as sheets of material soaked in resin, just like fiberglass only the resins used are nasty toxic. The inside of the tube can't be straight as it will need 2-3 degrees of draft angle to get the core out.
My suggestion is to contact a large technical engineering school in your area. If they have teams competeing in things like mini-baja or solar race cars you might be able to have them lay you up a tube for cost of materials and a donation to the project. These projects are often starved for cash.

jeffeossoThanks guys.
Rusty, yep, i know it's not "cast" but i believe that's the term used for a pour... as a pour or a lay , or even worse, a pour lay, just don't sound so hot.
thanks for the link rick, that'll help!
TT,
bigger than bushmaster, though it might be worth talking to them.
saw mythbusters cast a pair of air dams, got em to thinking!
