Our intention was to see what might happen when the average hunter goes in the bush, using a standard factory rifle - and the performance of this one seems to be typical of them.

A fall causing damage to the muzzle might throw his shots about. Would using a hacksaw and chopping the damaged part off, and using a knife to remove the burrs.

Would that return the rifle to a reasonable state for the hunt to continue.

It seems field repair is possible.
